Victim: 8 year old female

St. Petersburg Crimes Against Children asks the public’s help in the apprehension of an Asian suspect to a sexual battery on an 8 year old girl.

The girl and her 7 year old brother were leaving Central Oaks Park at Dartmouth Avenue and 40 Street North when the victims brother noticed the suspect following them. He became frightened and urged his sister to go home. The suspect then got behind the girl and grabbed her in a bear hug and took her to the ground. The boy ran home to get his mother. Meanwhile a person playing basket ball saw the suspect on top of the female and began running over to the scene. A female motorist also saw what was going on and honked her horn to get the suspect off the girl. When the suspect saw the basketball player approach he took off running north on 39 street. The ball player chased after him but lost him.

The suspect is described as an A/M, 17 to 21 years of age, 5'6, 125 lbs. If anyone knows anything about this case or can Identify the suspect is asked to call the Communication Center at 727-893-7780.
